M&M Mondays #001: Putting off Tomorrow & The Era of Content
Listen to the audio version here. It’s actually me talking to ya.
📎 Marketing ➔ The Content Era
We’re all doing something different…
Some of us are running an etsy shop selling candles, while others are coaching newbies on how to to invest in commercial real estate syndicates.
But there’s one thing we should all be doing, that is hurting our growth potential… Content Creation.
We’re deep into the content era and most solopreneurs aren’t creating content. What!?
It’s getting to the point where there’s no excuse not to be creating something that promotes you and/or your brand…
Don’t get left behind. It’s easy to start.
To Start: Pick 1 content type. 1 platform. With 1 goal in mind
→ ex: Online Candle Store
Go live on Tiktok while pouring candles and engage with anyone who hops on your stream. The goal is to connect with new people and show your expertise by answering questions relating to the hustle.
→ ex: Real Estate Investing Coach
Write blog posts (or transcribe your speaking) on Medium that teach beginners how to become a successful investor in real estate. Repost snippets of the article on LinkedIn and invite people to subscribe to your blog. The goal might be to invite people to join a free virtual workshop where they can ask their burning questions and you respond right there on the spot.
I could come up with 100 more examples - some more strategic than others but the point is… It’s never too late to write an article, record a voice memo, or take a picture with a compelling caption.
The longer you wait the more you miss out on. Trust me, I know.
I’ve made a few reels on Instagram about this as well as dropped this episode on my entrepreneurship podcast, “Which Way Now?!” dedicated to all the entrepreneurial-minded souls out here.
🧠 Mindset ➔ Putting Off Tomorrow
Instead of putting ‘it’ off until tomorrow (whatever the ‘it’ is for you), put off tomorrow instead.
Maybe it’s a stupid play on words but it makes sense to me. 🤷♂️ Lemme explain.
The ‘it’, the thing you should be avoiding is tomorrow itself. Put tomorrow off. Like… make tomorrow wait for you. Don’t run toward it - cause that’s what you’re doing.
When we put something off until later, it inadvertently propels us into the same predicament again for the second time. And then likely again. And probably again after that. Seems a bit stressful eh? Seems like a messed up groundhogs-day type thing. Don’t do that to yourself!
Be kind to your future self by holding your current self accountable.
Tomorrow can wait on us. We’re busy getting it done today. 💪
