Listen to the audio version here. It’s actually me talking to ya.

πŸ“Ž Marketing βž” Become An Attention Whore

To begin, let's start with my basic definition of marketing.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ« Marketing - Intentional communication with a specific goal in mind.

Given that the primary driver of marketing is communication, it's easy to assume that we need to have someone listening to the words we share. In order to achieve this, we must first grab someone's attention.

I know the title of this marketing "M" is pretty provocative... But you're reading it right?! You probably had a momentary thought like, "uhhhmm, where's Evan going with this? Guess I'll read it real quick."

Hook. Line. Sinker. - Got ya!

Now the game of grabbing attention can be tricky, and you don't want to fall into the trap of being manipulative cause that will always backfire on you and your business.

Use these attention-grabbing tips to be at least 1% better than yesterday:

  • Communicate in ways that trigger the emotions of your audience. πŸ˜‚ Make em laugh. 😒 Make em Cry. πŸ€¬ Make em cuss. πŸ₯³ Make em cheer!

  • Use headlines that stoke the readers to question... "Did they really just say that?!"

  • Be strategic about where you post and engage on social media. Where does your ideal customer hang out? What apps do they use? Put your content and ads in the right feeds and you'll gain attention from the people that you aim to serve.

Remember! We're not trying to be manipulative, misleading, or sleazy.
The goal is to get people to lean into what you're sharing because what you have is valuable.

πŸ‘‰ Here's an article I wrote explaining this more.

It all starts with getting someone's attention - even if it's only for 8 seconds.

🧠 Mindset βž” Inertia. The Silent Killer πŸ₯·

I like to talk a lot about momentum. The way I see it, it's quite the encouragement. For every step you take, the closer you get to achieving your wildest dreams - yes. πŸ™Œ

And for every mile you tread... You're building new strength, stamina, and skills that will aid you on the next mile. and the next. and the next.

But if we want to build momentum, we must first battle inertia.

Inertia is the law that states... That which is in motion (or in this case, not in motion) will continue to remain in its current state indefinitely until acted upon by a new force.

Here are a few quotes on inertia that I think apply to solopreneurs like us:

"Life leaps like a geyser for those who drill through the rock of inertia"

- Alexis Carrel

"Nothing changes without movement. Break inertia. A single step forward opens up many doors of possibility."
- Darren Hardy

Put simply, inertia is the silent killer of an unfulfilled life.
The longer you sit idle, the harder it is to get going.

Find your momentum by killing inertia.
Don't let it take you down like the others.
