The Solopreneur Advantage

As technology advances, a new world is unfolding before our eyes.

Many jump on trends for the quick money or attention grab. While most take too long to spot the underlying shift that controls it all.

People shamed the internet.

People thought Edison and Jobs were nuts.

Some people still think video games and marijuana melt your brain.

I caught a recent keynote speech from GaryVee and something he said really stood out…

“The speed that one can create a new thing is lightning fast due to commoditized tech. The understanding of how to create demand for that thing is the variable of current success.” - GaryVee

If we don’t stand out, our business will eventually fade into nothing.

The Enemy in the Mirror

With the advancement of tech and AI, also comes the wave of mass access and use. As this continues to unfold, all of these powerful tools and subsequent strategies start to become commoditized.

This means that everyone using these tools in their business are going to look the same.

Blending in becomes this kind of rut that many get stuck in without realizing.

Companies won't know how to differentiate.

“I post on social media every week… But my following isn’t growing…?”

“I make 100 sales calls each month… But my conversions are awful…?”

“I run a mile two times a week… But my weight isn’t dropping…?”

There’s 3 problems here:

  • Your Volume is low

  • Your Effort is blind

  • Your Strategy isn’t yours

I used to blame sorry suckers like this (me included) for not waking the f**k up and realizing that your mild sheepish attempts are pointless when you haven’t zoomed out and looked at the bigger picture. Time to put on our big boy pants.

As solopreneurs:

Blending in is the enemy of success.

Standing out is the requirement for achieving your dreams.

What’s the solve?

Simply put… YOU.

Why Do You Like Netflix?

As we all lean into tech more and more, the need to inject the human touch dramatically increases. The shift has begun and is moving quickly.

Consumer interests are changing.

Consumers - especially millennials and Gen-Z’ers - require brands to pass the BS test before they’ll lean in closer. We don’t want to be ‘sold’ to… We want someone with our best interests in mind to provide a solution. From paper towels to life coaches, no industry is exempt from this.

For instance, which TV streaming app do you typically open up first?
Netflix? Apple TV? Youtube? HBO max?

Why? I’ll take a guess….

Because that brand makes you feel understood. They serve you the most valuable content (in your opinion) and make it easy (from your perspective) to navigate the menus, skip the commercials, and keep you updated when new episodes drop.

They’ve catered to you and won your loyalty, which isn’t freely given.

Big Brands Are Losing Right Now

Being small is your competitive advantage.

Think about Pepsi, Shell, Walmart, Wells Fargo.
You know the name and you know what they sell, but that’s about it.

Each one of these brands have direct competitors selling the same exact thing.

Where do you shop? What do you buy?
With these examples…
Whatever’s closest and cheapest right?

Hersheys -VS- Mr Beast Chocolate Bars
ABC news -VS- Joe Rogan Podcast
Espolon Tequila -VS- The Rock’s Teremana Tequila

Which option are you more drawn toward? Exactly.

The only thing big brands have on you is deep deep pockets full of money and manpower.

But these brands move slowwwww. They often catch the shift years later and then bulldoze everyone with their exorbitant of resources.

Think about this advantage you have.
Over the next 10 years…

Don't even try to finish the sentence. Just stew on it.
Let your brain process and ideate.

The Curious Solopreneur

We’ve uncovered the two massive advantages of pace and personality but there is still one other internal element we need to hone in on for a moment...

Curiosity

Curiosity leads to new, unseen ways of doing things that stand out and breed new attention. Curiosity is your superpower that cannot be commoditized.

Tons of people lead with ‘no’ instead of allowing curiosity to marinate.

Most lead with ‘no’
Many lead with ‘yes’
While very few lead with ‘maybe’

“Fall in love with the concept of ‘maybe’ to increase your chances of getting what you want out of the world.”

- GaryVee

Curiosity breeds Ideas.
Ideas breeds Innovation.
Innovation breeds New Solutions.
New Solutions breed Attention.
Attention opens the gate to new wealth and opportunities.

As a Solopreneur, you have many advantages.

  1. It’s easy to tie your personality into your brand.

  2. Being small allows you to easily outpace big companies with new shifts.

  3. You can continue to innovate by fanning the flame of curiosity.

Double down on you.
And then double down again.
and again.

This investment will pay BIG.
Time to make it happen.

Til Next Time ✌️🙂
