How to Generate 100+ Content-Worthy Ideas a Week

Content Creation is tough.

You may….

  • Not know what to post

  • Not know where to post

  • Not know why you should post

  • Not have the time to make stuff to post

  • Not have the bandwidth to develop a system for posting

  • Not have enough reason to even begin

  • Not care at all about posting so who am I to convince you… Happy to have ya here though! 😊

To keep this super practical, I’m not going to jump into my whole pitch as to why you should be creating and posting content for your business or personal brand.

But I WILL help lighten the mental burden that plagues many of us which is…

What the hell am I supposed to post and how do I keep up with it over time?

The 3-step framework

  1. Generating ideas or useful thoughts

  2. Writing them down

  3. Carving it into content

Jay touches on a pretty straight-forward mental approach to maximizing your content. Seems simple, but this concept of duplicating/replicating content-worthy ideas makes all the difference in aiming to produce more quality content for your brand and audience.

Generating Useful Thoughts and Ideas

I don’t want to assume too much here… but you are full of thoughts.

Research suggests that the average person can have anywhere from 50,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day! 🤯 Woah…

The nature of thoughts can range from conscious thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, daydreaming, internal dialogue, and more. But not all thoughts are explicitly remembered or fully processed.

The mind is continuously active, and thoughts can arise and fade quickly throughout the day.

We are constantly churning out thoughts, ideas, and processing feelings.

Every piece of content ever created in the past and into the forever future starts in the same spot… Your brain - as a thought or an idea.

But not every thought is useful.

at least in the context of creating content from it.

I’ve written weekly email/podcast/blog entries for almost a year at this point and I didn’t learn this lesson soon enough.

I thought I should put out content on a wide variety of things aimed at a very wide audience pool of solopreneurs. In doing so, I stressed myself out with ‘what to write about’ next and confused the few people in my audience as to what I was doing with my content and my brand.

Try this to avoid my stupid mistakes:

Think inside the box.

With ‘inside the box thinking’, we’re not trying to come up with a ton of different topics to talk on… We’re trying to hone in on 1-3 topics that we can attack at many angles.

→ What are you known for?

→ What’s the thing you’re either really good at?

→ or what’s the thing you’ve done a lot of?

→ What are the questions that people in this space ask all the time?

→ What were your problems and roadblocks when you were getting started?

Don’t go wide, go deep.

Don’t reinvent, reverse engineer.

Don’t start from scratch, pick up where someone left off.

The 1% Rule

The endgame of social content marketing isn’t to blow people’s minds with something revolutionary every time you post.

The goal with social content is to simply give a tiny nugget of value every time you post.

Value can come in the form of:

→ Entertainment

→ Thought-provoking Idea

→ Well-stated summary or solution to a complex idea

→ Different angle to a common perspective

→ Time/energy/money saving tip that makes your audience’s life 1% easier or better

…and that’s just a few ideas to get your wheels turning.

Take the pressure off of yourself.

You do not have to make something insanely spectacular in order to have post-worthy content.

Yes, you may follow accounts that seem to put out banger content damn-near every time…

Because they’ve honed their craft - trying new things - posting consistently over time.

But where did their content originate?

In their mind, as a thought or idea. 💡

Use this mental framework to start cranking out endless content-worthy ideas.

  1. Think with your audience in mind

  2. Think inside the box

  3. Think with a simple value-based approach [The 1% Rule]

The Next Step is…

The very next logical step is writing down these thoughts and ideas in a way that makes it easy to build endless amounts of valuable content for your brand.

If you get the hang of it (which is not hard at all) you’ll be able to leverage your social content to build your audience, make new connections, make more money, and have something of actual value that will sustain you long into the future.
